How Much Does it Cost to Build a Wix Website?


A website is a great way to establish your company as the go-to place for whatever you are selling, but it takes time and money to build one. In this article, we will talk about what goes into building a new site from scratch. Starting with figuring out how much does it cost? This post will cover everything from domain names and hosting plans to hiring a designer or developing a simple template yourself.

 

What are all of the costs involved in creating a new website? Here is a list of the most common items that can increase the cost of your website:

The first thing you need is a domain name. Wix has packages that include the registration for one or more years, depending on your needs. Whether it’s an annual Wix premium plan package or Wix website builder plan package to get your site up and running fast! Wix hosting is fast and reliable, so you can focus on building your Wix website.



How Much Does a Freelance Wix Designer Charge?


Wix freelance designers charge an average rate between $35 - $80/hr while Wix freelancers who design logos and graphic images charge an average flat fee of around $25-$125 for their services, depending on the project. Generally, more experienced Wix designers will have their processes already setup. They also already know what you need after a quick discussion and are able to work through the project at a much faster rate. This is why you will see higher hourly rates for more experienced designers.


I would always recommend trying to find a per project / tasks completed type of deal instead of an hourly deal when it comes to creating an entire website. I do provide hourly services, but only after the initial website has been created. This allows us to use our hourly services for more minor updates that are easier to manage when it comes to billing. You don't want to be caught in a situation where you accepted an hourly deal and the designer thought it would only take a few hours to put together (to try and lower costs) - but then approaches 20 hours spent on the job. This invites disaster when it comes to the expectations of your project's cost as well as the timeline until completion.


How Long Does It Take To Design A 10 Page Wix Website?


The actual design time will depend on what is included in the scope of work. This can range from 10 hours in a few days to 120 hours over the course of 3 months depending on how many revisions are involved, and whether or not you need custom coded functionalities, graphic editing, content creation and strategies, SEO, etc. Creating your website template yourself could save you money, but will risk your time. There are many preparations that go into designing a new website to help us save time and provide a more affordable service.


As a very experienced Wix designer, it can take me 7-10 hours to put together a well built 5-8 page site for a small service orientated business. This would be the most barebones version of a website that I can produce while maintaining quality. Usually these websites do not have much content and are just a starting point for their website until they can invest further. Please also keep in mind that this does not include copywriting, graphic editing, or any other services other than designing the site. This would be creating the pages, configuring the headers & footers, adding the menus, adding strips for each content section, optimizing the site for mobile, or any other design or structural related configurations.


Additional features can easily be added, but there are so many options that it can make the price of your website skyrocket dramatically. This is why it is important to have somebody experienced enough to guide you through the entire process. Estimating the cost for a 5-8 page website is very easy. When you're estimating a 20+ page website, complete with dynamic pages, custom social media integrations, blog, bookings, accepting payments, custom coded functions, SEO, and more - the estimation itself can become quite the project. Sometimes it can take 10+ hours to even build just the proposal for the project because there are just so many features that could be added to the site.


How Much Does Social Media Marketing Cost?


Social media marketing can be a great way to reach potential customers, but it is important that you do not rely on this entirely for your business. Creating profiles across all of the major social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) will help increase brand awareness and drive traffic to your website. You should also create unique content specifically designed for each platform so that you are able to maximize engagement with each post. This can take anywhere from 15 minutes per day up to 30+ hours per week depending on how much time you have available - as well as the type of content strategy or promotion plan that has been laid out. The more original images & videos that need created - the higher the cost be associated with creating them in-house. Creating infographics and graphics is also a time consuming effort that will add to your cost as well - but can be outsourced for less than $100/hour while still obtaining high quality images / videos.


Creating blog posts takes up more of our time though, so we feel it's important enough to mention in this article! Creating written content is very important because Google loves fresh content & unique perspectives on topics (that they've never seen before). This means that if you're writing articles from scratch or spinning them from other sources - the amount of hours spent creating these articles will vary dramatically depending on each topic, how much research needs done beforehand, what type of language has been used throughout the post, etc.


Creating a single 500 word article can take anywhere from 30-90 minutes to create - which is great for your website and SEO efforts, but if you're creating 20 or more of them per month it will add up quickly. Creating in house content usually doesn't cost an arm & a leg because we use our own knowledge/experience when writing the articles (unless there's some type of research that needs done beforehand). The time spent researching topics does not typically count towards the final price tag either unless specifically requested by you.


What Is Search Engine Optimization & How Much Does It Cost?


Search engine optimization is extremely important to any website. If you are not properly optimizing your site for Google, chances are that nobody will find it - which means no one will see the content or be able to make a purchase. Creating custom tags & titles with relevant keywords can greatly improve how well each page ranks in search engines across all of the major platforms (Google, Bing, Yahoo) and social media sites as well! This process usually takes anywhere from 15 minutes up to 40+ hours depending on what type of strategy needs to be laid out before starting the project itself. We always recommend hiring an SEO specialist if this area is new because there are so many factors that go into creating truly optimized pages / posts vs spammy ones that have been created to rank quickly, but do not provide any value for the user.


How Much Does A Graphic Editor Charge?


Creating original graphics & images can be a very time consuming effort. If you're looking to create all of your own pictures for each blog post, social media posts or other areas on the website - it will definitely add up quickly! Creating infographics is also a time intensive process that should not be rushed if high quality results are what's desired. We recommend outsourcing this portion of any project as well so that you don't have to worry about hiring several different people with various skill sets to complete everything within budget. Outsourcing typically runs anywhere from $20-$100 per hour depending on who you hire and how much work needs to be done. Creating infographics can take several hours to complete depending on the amount of information that needs formatted into an easy to read format, but this is typically a one-time effort because you'll always have it available for use after everything has been created!


How Much Does It Cost To Host An Email Address?


The cost to host an email address will vary depending on the type of hosting package that you're looking for and how much storage space each user needs. We recommend going with a company like Wix, Amazon, or Google - where they offer unlimited storage options across all packages, great uptime guarantees & other business resources if needed! Creating your own dedicated server is also possible, but this can be extremely costly when starting out because everything has to be set up from scratch by someone who already knows what's involved in creating these types of hosts (in house).


How Much Does It Cost To Hire Someone To Write Text Copy?


The cost of hiring someone to write text copy for your business will depend on the length and type of content you need created. Typically, a 500 word article with one or two images included would be around $150-$300 depending on what needs to be done in terms of research, interviews, editing etc. The price also depends on how many revisions are needed as well. Creating great written content is not easy but it’s important! Creating engaging content that people want to read is essential when it comes to creating your website.


How Much Does It Cost To Hire A Wix Developer?


Wix developers may charge anywhere from $65-$175+ an hour depending on what type of custom coding needs done, if any at all. For example, adding additional fields in certain forms and forms with a lot of calculations and conversions might require some custom coding. Creating third party integrations between your website and your business software could be completed in about an hour give or take depending on the number of functions needed.


 

Building a Wix website template yourself or having someone else do it is something that needs careful consideration and research if you want to get what you need without breaking the bank! Creating your website template yourself could save you money, but will risk your time. There are many preparations that go into designing a new website to help us save time and provide a more affordable service. There's much more prep work involved in designing a new website than creating one. Creating a website yourself is fine if it has a limited amount of pages and only a basic set up but in most cases I recommend hiring someone who knows what they are doing so it doesn't become too costly!
